David James Fleck and his story
.

“Hello! My name is David James Fleck, I am a 66 years old and married for 42 years to my lovely wife, Lynn. We reside in Santa Monica, California. My life has, so far, been anything but boring!

I am the second oldest child from a family of nine children and grew up in the Midwest until I moved out to California in the early ’70′s!

I have made a living as an advertising artist, cartoonist, illustrator, actor, voice over artist, comedian and muralist.

I have met some very famous and interesting people and had some very pretty exciting times. However I have always been searching for the answer to who I really am and what is the purpose of me being here?
.
David James FleckI never felt that I really had any control of my life. I kind of just went where ever the wind blew me. Then most recently I had a few eye opening experiences that made me stop and take a very long and critical look at myself.

They say one must hit bottom in order to start on the path upward to bettering ones life and finding full purpose in what life has in store for you. I did!”

Kim Basinger nursery

This mural was painted in Kim Basinger’s nursery with water color washes and impressionistic images using the lyrics from the Beatles’ song “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds”. It was a special treat to work directly with this client. She knew what she wanted and rather have me do a rendering , as I usually do, she sang the lyrics to “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” and I scribbled little notes on the wall as we walked around the room. Several days later she came in to check it out and after uttering “Oh, Oh, Oh, …..I just love it!” I knew we had connected. AFTER THE FACT… Kim showed off her new nursery on the Oprah Show and this really was a huge boost to our careers! Put us on the map ! Kim and Alec invited my wife and I to come back to their home and meet their new baby daughter, Ireland Elyse. A great experience!

denizens of long ago

These denizens of long ago captured the hearts of the two little brothers who bunk here! You think that’s scary… you should see the other three walls.
.
.

African plain

This loose water color and acrylic combine to give an impressionistic African plain. I sure hope the zebra and elephant don’t snore to loud… they may wake up the lion sleeping under the window sill.
.
.

T-Rex attacking a triceratops

T-Rex attacking a triceratops is exactly what I would want to wake up to… NOT! But for the brothers living under theirshadow… it’s just about more than the little tykes could stand!
.
.

garden fairyland

This garden fairyland fits perfectly with the natural wood furnishings. We did all four walls and the ceiling to give this room and outdoor feeling.
.
.

Yippee Cay Yeah!

“Yippee Cay Yeah!” mural wasn’t painted for a little kid. No sir, it’s in the basement bar of a very prominent 70 year old client… he likes cowboys!

detail of a little boy fairy

Detail of a little boy fairy – This wasn’t a mural at all… but the client had us paint fairies and elves all over the room… giving it a “fairy” nice feeling.

I am impressed. What a wonderful way for a child to wake up surrounded with beautiful painted walls. very enchanting. I might have to rethink some of the walls in my house. I love how you scribbled sayings on the wall while the client sang the song.

Very nice!

I am wondering what that lion under the window looks like.

Your God given talent have is being experienced by young and old – who will forever carry your art in their hearts and minds. To wake every morning to see only what you have dreamed about, literally come to life before your very eyes.

The sunflower nursery is my favorite mural. Some of the other ones with the animals look like amateur work. Overall, I really like the use of colors.

When I “walked” into these rooms online, my imagination woke up and walked in with me. My chattering mind quieted down and I experienced the wonder of being in this moment in this space. Whether you are looking for beauty, adventure, or magic, James fleck can create it for you.

David James Fleck has an engaging style (and the talent to implement it.) A child would be very lucky to grow and thrive surrounded by these charming images. From the ever-popular dinosaur to fairies, cowboys and flying carpets, the colorful images delight.

Ko se srecata kreativnost in domišljija. Ko si dajo roko barve in podobe. Ko pricaraš v prostor pravljico.

Translation: When creativity and imagination meet. Where colors and images hold hands. When a room becomes a fairy tale.

These are some special works of art. I especially like the fairy mural in the nursery. It would be interesting to have one or two rooms in a house painted like this to go with the theme of the room. Kids’ rooms especially. I’m sure any child would love to have walls painted with their favorite animals or characters. It’s magical. :) Beautiful work.

These murals would go great on my daughter’s bedroom wall. They certainly seem lively and emit a positive vibe. I especially appreciate the zebra and elephant mural – I would be interested in seeing more animals incorporated into your work.

David, your talents are amazing and extremely diversified. All murals are showing colors as crisp and realistic. I love the fact that the murals travel upward onto the ceiling to make a full view of the artwork.

Those are really good, i really like the Beatles one at the top. I am not too fond of the second one though, i am sure the intention wasnt how it looks but it does look a bit explicit. The last one is probably my favorite as it is nice and simple but still works. Very good work sir.

These are lovely (even the dinosaurs!) My favorite is the fairyland garden. The lighting that they chose for the wall also enhances the “feel” of the mural. I think these are very magical and fanciful pieces and they transport me to many wonderful and exciting places!
