I wasn’t always such a fanatic about taking face photos of friends and family for use in making hand drawn portraits. Fortune would have it that I was introduced to the idea by a good friend of mine. It was getting close the Christmas and I was really sick of all the typical thoughtless gifts that tend to get passed around during the holiday season. The following is my story of how I feel in love with the idea of surprising everyone on my holiday shopping list.
Now just as a little background. I am just a regular person, I don’t really know all that much about how one actually creates a hand drawn charcoal pencil sketch. I first tried using a cheap computer program to automatically turn my photos into portraits. I will admit it did look intriguing but it didn’t have that “artistic quality” that I was searching for. So I dropped that idea and began searching for an artist to commission for a portrait online.
As luck would have it I managed to stumble upon a local artist (from London, Ontario, Canada) who is able to take any photograph you have and in just a few short days, turns it into a one of a king art picture that you can have hanging on your wall. When I saw the work he had done, I was amazed, and it wasn’t long before I had all my friends drawn in charcoal pencil. Now as a favor to those out there looking for a practical way to have your hand drawn portrait made I will share the link to Jaret’s website. So enjoy, all the best.
