During May, one of the premier Universities there, held their second annual Transportation Design Show. The university, if you couldn’t guess was Lawrence Technological University (LTU for short, or Lawrence Tech).
Both the Freshmen and the Sophomore classes presented Entries to the show. The freshmen were tasked with creating a vehicle for the tough environment of Africa, while the Sophomores had to create a car for the Jeep brand that would make the brand more accessible to the greater public.

LTU’s Design Show

As you can see even from these early drawings, the Roon does not use your regular run-of-the-mill tires. The Roon’s tires are completely airless because of the drastic temperature changes in Egypt and most other parts of Africa.
In the face of such an assault most tires would fail. However, the Roon’s tires won’t. They can even dig themselves out of sand by using centripetal force.
Another one of the unique features about the Ford Roon is that the white panels on the body of the car are actually fiber optics that power the car.
The car also comes equiped with a battery so that if it’s not sunny, you won’t be stuck. The last feature that Gregor Duler designed with the car was a special floor mat which contains the gas and brake pedals. The floormat is connected to the car through Blue Tooth software. With this floor mat anyone can find their optimal body position no matter how tall or short.
The picture above is the poster that was created by Mr. Duler to show his cool design.
One of the features that we haven’t talked about yet is the fact that the battery for the car can be easily removed through the back of the car.
You could even use the trunk door as a table because it folds down like a pickup truck.
One of the inspirations for Gregor Duler was a horse. He wanted to design a car that everyone would feel safe riding in, that would be sleek, muscular and strong.
In my opinion he accomplished his goal quite well.

Fun fact: Roon is short for Haroon, which means vicious horse in Arabic. It’s also one of the cool car designs, but you already knew that ^_^

Amazing work and design I love all but my favorite is “One of the sketches for the Ford Roon”
Good work and great 3-D design of the car model. i never know that Roon is short for Haroon, which means vicious horse in Arabic. Thanks for the information.
Wow the features and pictures are just stunning. My 10 year old younger brother is a great fan and mad on these pictures. Great work.
Car is designed well for the intended climate. The ride height seems appropriate if one were to hit a dune. The only downside that is apparent, is that the vehicle appears to be a niche car. A relatively small market is target with this vehicle, if there were a way to expand this market, I could see this car receiving financial approval by major car manufacturers.
Wow Gregor, you certainly have vision and an appreciation for fine tuning. Some really great ideas that the auto world need to pay attention to. Good Luck – you are on the way to bigger and better things.
A very interesting concept indeed. I wonder about the wheel/tire technology though. I know that non-pneumatic tires have been tried before with varying levels of success. Some great ideas here though. The world needs more people who are able to think outside the box.
Very interesting concept and design. The tires look so different and are very innovative.
This product will need a lot of technology to make it and I hope it is launched sometime for the masses!
thats a really cool car! too bad its just a concept. nice job with the model, thats so cool!
You know so many interesting infomation. You might be very wise. I like such people. Don’t top writing.
