There are some artists out there that must clearly be aware of the power of art, maybe that’s why I’ve been  following them for quite some time. Some of them I know for long – and there are others that I’ve just met and their art made a deep impression on me.

Every time I get a chance to see one of these inspiring authors’ new art pieces, that’s like a special treat for me. It’s like drinking from the Source. Pure, fresh, rejuvenating and healing cup of bliss…

Photographer Iva Krapez from Slovenia is one of those artists that have a special place in my heart. She is kind and easy to work with – and many of her photos seem like a pure magic to me.

Many times, when I go to her aviana2′s photostream account on Flickr, to comment on her newly published art piece – I sit in front of my laptop, my fingers over the keyboard, ready to type and with my mind unable to find some proper words to describe how Iva’s image on the screen makes me feel. All that comes out of me is silent… “Wow!”

Two days ago, the same scenario was about to happen, except that this time her post was different. It had a story attached. A story, that made me cry. A story about the power of art and how it can affect other people’s lives in the most unusual and unexpected ways.

And that’s where I got the idea for this new “power of art” category on Arted 4 Life blog. I’d like to invite all the artists to share their stories about how their art affected another human being in wonderful ways. Let’s spread the power of art!

Following is the first inspiring story in the Power of art series. It was “written” by one of Iva Krapez’s photos.

.

“Miss, I can’t DO this.” Yes, you can!

"Miss, I can't DO this." Yes, you can!

Hello Aviana,
Last December you gave me permission to print a photo of yours of Venice for reference material for my art students.

If you remember, I volunteer at a Juvenile Detention Centre in our town, teaching young men to draw and paint.
“RP” (we cannot divulge names) chose your image to draw his final picture from.

He is a youth who was convinced that he could not draw and let me know that every lesson.

“Miss, I can’t DO this”. Miss, I CAN’T draw”, were the song and dance he gave me for about 5 minutes at the start of each lesson. He has Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder and on some days, very little was accomplished.

He leaves the institution tomorrow.

He was excited about having you see his final product.
I hope you like it.

Thanks again,
Hilda Van Netten

Iva told me she would let Ms. Hilda Van Netten and her student know about their story being published on this blog. Please leave them a comment and let them know in what way the power of art touched Your heart.

What a great story! Art is more than just what meets the eye and thrills the heart!
Let me join a million others perhaps in pouring out my praises on such great art work and photography. These pictures portray more than just a still from nature or life and it’s great to see a story unfurl from such masterpieces!

Wow. I really, really enjoy this aspect of art- the inspiration, the joy, the feeling of having found a treasure. Whether you’re the one creating it or the one appreciating it everyone gets something out of art. And it’s stories like the one Iva allowed you to share with us that make it all worthwile. Wonderful. I’ll be looking forward to reading more stories like this. :D

I love the idea of doing a ‘Power of Art’ series on your blog! I personally am a jewelry artist and soap maker, and it just fills me with joy when someone writes to me and tells me how much they enjoy my work. My ultimate goal is simply to make women feel good about themselves, and to feel beautiful on the outside as much as on the inside. It’s really rewarding and motivating to know that what we do as artists also makes an impression on others as well.

This story is so touching. I would like to hear what the people say. An artist always loves to hear how their art has affected someone.

Power of Art…what a spectacular idea! I think so many of us as artists are sharing from our own souls, and experiencing the power that our or others’ art produces is an awesome and inspiring experience. It is being the privileged observer of an awakening in someone else’s life! This artwork has the power to do that very thing. Beautiful work and story…thank you for sharing. It helps artists to feel even more motivated to produce inspiring works.

Translation: Congratulations to the student who painted this, and his teachers who encouraged him to prove to everyone what can be done using will power and persistence. Each of us is an artist soul and each of us is a unique God’s creation.
